Light Rail System
Perfected in 2780 AD (280 AU) by Anderson Industries after 120 years of development.
The Light Rail Traffic System (LRTS) adds magnetic matter to a stream of light, making a tangible and manipulative chord of hard light energy. Beam Cars and other Cargo freighters use LRTS to navigate a beam of light from one location to another.
Beam cars are the primary form of transportation for all people in the United Authority. To operate, one must simply put in the desired destination and let the computer do the rest. Only UA forces have access to free fliers.
Since the implementation of Light Rail Technology, People in the Sol and Eden systems can travel near the speed of light in planets' atmospheres and after a small wait, within a solar system. The distance between most star systems prevents their practicality of use for such travel.
Ship-Piercers
Boarding parties of the three factions of the Great Eden War used Ship-Piercers to breach the hull of enemy capital ships, whether to raid supplies, kill everyone on board, or even take the ship for themselves.
Orbital Drop Shock Pods
House Exos of the CDP has used drop pods for decades. They are used to quickly transport soldiers from orbit to anywhere on the battlefield. They are extremely useful for overwhelming the enemy or flanking enemy positions to destroy static defenses.
Each Shock Pod can carry two soldiers into battle and is mounted with a heavy machine gun on either side to detect and fire upon any enemies prior to opening the hatch for the shock troopers inside.
Gravity Trench
Completed 2845 AD
A project over half a century in the making. This highway-like system features dozens of massive, rotating rings. The rings are solar-powered, using synthetic gravity and anti-gravity to propel spaceships at subluminal speeds through a solar system by way of a gravity trench across the fabric of space-time, similar to a gravity well.
Construction on the gravity lanes had halted during the Fourth Colony War. Afterward, the brightest minds from all Four Houses of the CDP worked tirelessly until it was finished. The lanes connecting the Four Houses were established five years after the CDP constitution was ratified.
This technology allows what used to be a weeks-long flight across the Ios System to now take only hours to a couple of days at most. The colonies prosper greatly thanks to the gravity lanes.
